23/1/2014 & 25/1/2014 – With the third-wave coffee movement coming in rapidly, more cafes are opening up fast. Yellow Cup Coffee is part of the movement that opened at Central Square recently. It had its official opening one day after my coffee visit. This cafe is decorated based on the New York City concept, and also utilises the “Ferrari” of all coffee machines – La Marzocco Strada, that has pressure profiling to make sure that every coffee that comes out tastes good.
I reached during one of the evenings to know that they had started cleaning their coffee machine (30 minutes before closing time). However, I did had their Danish Bread and Iced Tea before I left. The Danish Chocolate Bread (complimentary) is glazed nicely with chocolate bits on top and tasted slightly crusty on the outside and chocolatey on the inside!
Danish Chocolate Bread
The Iced Tea (complimentary; refillable) is very refreshing to get while waiting for your coffee.
The Latte ($5) made using Nicaragua coffee beans is very full-bodied, creamy, chocolatey and very rich in flavour. The taste was excellent and flawless. Probably one of the best coffees made by cafe in Singapore.
I will definitely come back here one day if I’m around the Chinatown / Clarke Quay area. The operating hours are aimed towards the working crowd, so do take note when you are going there!
