28/7/2013 – Mandarin Gallery boast a whole load of high-end restaurants to choose from. X brought me to this one that is located quite near the entrance. The Providore is a company who supplies their own range of gourmet food, wine, craft beers, coffee, as well as cookbooks and gifts. Their outlet at Mandarin Gallery added a cafe for a dine-in experience. They also own Jones The Grocer on the same building (until they sold off the brand last year).
I had a Iced Cappuccino ($7++). Disappointing. The coffee was bland as the taste of the coffee was not strong, even the milk taste wasn’t apparent.
X had a Flat White ($5++). This blend came from Toby’s Estate, so you know what to expect. Great coffee!
The Roasted New Potatoes with Rosemary and Romesco Sauce ($9.50++). Well sauteed and roasted to perfection, its enough to be eaten on its own. Have it, however, with the Romesco sauce for a mild spicy and tangy taste.

The Spatchcock Chicken ($22.50++) is a chicken that had their backbone removed so that it can be flattened before roasting it with lemon & thyme, garlic & shallots, verjus & Creme Fraiche sauce. This resulted in a crispy skin and each piece of chicken tasting juicy and flavourful. It is one that must be ordered here!
The Red Velvet Cake ($6.90++) had disappointed a bit. The cake did not crumble easily, the taste of the cake were alright, but the taste of butter/cheese was in near absence in the cream used. Nonetheless, the quantity was enough to delight both of us.

Recommended if you want to settle for a dinner in a less crowded place (but beware of the pricing!)
