Wong Kok Char Chan Teng (Part 4) – Bugis Junction

7/7/2013 – Me and X had been here before. We decided that its good to come back here again. And so here we are back at Wong Kok Char Chan Teng (which in my opinion serves a wide range of food and better food than other Hong Kong cafes around in Singapore).

X ordered a Yam Milk Shake ($5.90++). The yam flavour was very distinctive and a mixture with the yam ice-cream is a very fulfilling experience especially for people who like yam (like X and me).

I had a Double Supreme ($4.90++). This is a drink infused with dragon fruit. This tasted great and refreshing.

Both of us ordered a Double Sauces Sandwich ($4.90++). It was accompanied with both cheese & pasta sauce. The sandwich wasn’t too bad but the combination with the pasta sauce tasted very different and unmatching.

I had the Teriyaki Chicken with Rice ($7.60++), which is a chef’s recommendation. This is an well executed dish less the fact that there was no sauce to accompany the rice; the chicken is great but the rice is too dry.

X had the Salmon Fillet in Cheese Sauce with Rice ($10.90++). The salmon was not too bad, but the cheese sauce that accompanied the salmon was rather revolting. The coleslaw came warm which carried a rather sour taste (which was rather unexpected)

I probably will still come back here again (as I did for previous visits). Definitely not for the 2 rice dishes though.

Food: 5.5/10 (food not as good; drinks are better)
Ambience: 8.5/10 (place suits the theme of the restaurant)
Comfort: 8/10 (cozy place to have food)
Service: 8/10 (fast service, quite value for money)
Total: 30/40
